During NBC’s live State of the Union coverage Tuesday night, chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd sneered at Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson being a Republican guest at the event: “…after the shooting with Gabby Giffords and for a couple of State of the Unions in a row….There was more of a dignified feeling about the guests that you would invite. Boy, you can tell things are a lot different now, when you’re inviting Duck Dynasty stars. Everybody’s trying to make a partisan political point.” .
The following is an open letter to Chuck Todd.
Dear Mr. Todd:
I’ve just read your comments regarding the attendance of Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson at last night’s State of the Union address. You apparently feel that it wasn’t dignified to invite such a guest to an event of this caliber. I must say I am puzzled by your thoughts. Is it not our Union? The Union belonging to We the People? I would say that Mr. Robertson has every right to be in attendance, as a God-fearing, Patriotic American. He should not have been omitted from an event such as this merely because the Progressives of our current society abhor his beliefs. Wouldn’t that be “intolerant” of your group? And doesn’t your group preach “tolerance” of all? Or is it just “tolerance” of all who share your specific beliefs?
Maybe I am mistaken. Perhaps you just feel that the State of the Union address isn’t the place to showcase non-government individuals who represent certain political beliefs? You said, “Everybody’s trying to make a partisan political point” By “everyone” I assume you are referring to those on the Right? Let’s see…
Or maybe, I am just completely missing your point and forgive me if I am. You see, I am not a trained journalist. I am simply an American wife and mother who has had enough of the Left destroying my country. I am exercising my Constitutional right to speak up…. until the Left destroys that right as well. But it is possible that I am not quite getting your point here. Maybe what you meant lies in the definition of the word, “dignified”.
having or showing a composed or serious manner that is worthy of respect.
Mr. Todd, I may not be a Chief White House Correspondent, but to me, ‘DIGNIFIED’ would have been rescuing our men in Benghazi immediately, instead of letting them suffer, die and then lying about it to the American people.
*‘DIGNIFIED’ would be to keep ones’ word as President.
* Obeying the Constitution of the United States of America.
* Honoring our Military and our Veterans for the sacrifices they have made.
*Less Executive Orders, Less Tyranny
*Less Government interference in the lives of the People.
‘DIGNIFIED’, Mr. Todd, would be following the rules set forth by our Founding Fathers and conducting oneself with DIGNITY in the office that one holds.
I am not sure there is much dignity left in Washington D.C. these days. I would also guess that Willie Robertson attending the SOTU doesn’t even register on the radar of what is truly important in our government. This administration has pushed the division of classes and division of political parties.. right down to the point where a Chief White House Correspondent would voice his great disdain over a known Conservative public figure attending a SOTU, while obliviously ignoring the poster children invited by the Left to showcase their causes. I rest my case.
